Kortext strengthens its Board Advisory Group with two distinguished appointments

London, 20/09/23 – Kortext, a global leader in digital teaching and learning technologies, supplying learning content and solutions to 5,000 universities around the world, is delighted to announce the expansion of its Board Advisory Group with the appointment of Professor Janice Kay CBE and Mr Christoph Chesher.

Professor Kay is a special advisor to the Vice-Chancellor at the University of Exeter, after stepping down as Provost and Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Exeter, a role she carried out for 10 years, and prior to that as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education) for 10 years. With a distinguished academic and senior leadership career, Professor Kay brings a wealth of experience and insight to the Kortext board. Her notable contributions to higher education were acknowledged with a CBE in the 2017 Queen’s New Year Honours. Professor Kay continues her work on the Teaching Excellence Framework as panellist and member of the Advisory Group.

Christoph Chesher, an accomplished leader in academic publishing, brings decades of accrued publishing knowledge to the Kortext board. He has over 35 years of industry experience, including his role as Chief Commercial Officer at Taylor & Francis Informa, the international journal and book publishing house.

Kortext’s Board Advisory Group plays a crucial role in helping to shape the company’s strategy and works alongside members of the Kortext Academic Advisory Board, helping to ensure the realisation of our vision of enabling and enriching the higher education of tomorrow and helping all students fulfil their potential.

Bios:

Professor Janice Kay, recently Provost and Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of Exeter, now serves as a special advisor to the Vice-Chancellor. With a CBE for services to higher education, she has been part of the latest TEF2023 and all previous iterations. She chairs the University Mathematics Schools’ Network.

Christoph Chesher, is an Executive Director with over 35 years’ experience in academic publishing, most recently as Chief Commercial Officer at Taylor & Francis Informa. He began his publishing career in 1984 at Blackwell Science, progressing to senior management roles in the industry. Christoph was also appointed as Honorary Professor of Publishing Studies by the University of Stirling, and served for many years as Chair of the University’s associated Industry Advisory Board.
