Kortext to sponsor THE’s award for Outstanding Library Team

The Times Higher Education Awards are fondly known as the Oscars of the higher education sector, each attracting hundreds of entries that exemplify the talent, dedication, and innovation of individuals and teams across all aspects of university life. This year, Kortext wanted in on the action!

Kortext is proud to announce that we have partnered with Times Higher Education to sponsor the award for Outstanding Library Team.

Throughout the pandemic, praises have been sung for unsung heroes, but overlooked by many is the hard work and dedication of librarians in higher education settings.

When the pandemic closed campuses, the spotlight focused on librarians for the continuity of courses. Institutions were relying on their resilience and ability to source resources essential to allow for lecturers to teach, and for students to learn. Working tirelessly, many librarians succeeded in this task, delivering an incredible number of texts to their institutions.

The shift to e-textbooks via a digital-first approach was already emerging, yet it was accelerated by the pandemic. A survey conducted by Kortext found that in the last 12 months, almost 87% of librarians said that their ebook spend had gone up, supporting the shift to a digital-first approach.

At Kortext, our ethos is to allow access to texts anytime and anywhere and it’s definitely in the nature of librarians to do the same, therefore, their reaction to the pandemic and the speed of which they were able to adapt and overcome is something that we would like to celebrate by sponsoring the award for Outstanding Library Team.
