Theatre direction is a discipline where a theatre director manages the support of a theatre performance by putting together various aspects of the production. The main theatre director's functions are ensuring the quality and completeness of the performance, as well as leading the members of the creative team to originate an artistic vision of the production. Usually, not only a theatre director collaborates with the creative team, but also with staff from the coordinating research, costume design, lighting design, acting, set design and sound design. As well as this, it is possible that the director has to work on the playwright and its translation.
Furthermore, the director has to produce a concept for the performance which identifies the themes of the play, the relationship between the protagonists, the setting and the mood of the play, and the style of the production.
A theatre production is any theatre work such as play, musical, comedy or drama originated from a book or script. These works are usually the results of the combination of actors, costumes and sets.
To produce a theatre performance, different are the people involved, including a producer, which hire staff and oversees everything from the beginning to the end of the show, and other staff members, who usually work in different departments.
