Radiography is an imaging technique which use X-rays to analyse the internal form of an item. To produce the image, different X-rays are produced by an X-ray generator and then projected towards the object. Usually, most of the rays are absorbed by the object and captured by a detector.
X-rays are used in medicine to identify the internal structure of the human body. The discipline which explores the human anatomy by using rays is known as radiographic anatomy. Physicians who focus on this discipline are known as radiographers; however, those individuals who analyse the image are called radiologists.
There are different medical techniques that use X-rays to analyse the body structure, including projection radiography, fluoroscopy, computed tomography, dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry and contrast radiography.
Furthermore, radiography is utilised also in an industrial context and is known as industrial radiography. In this field, this technique is adopted to create non-destructive tests of manufactured components to verify their integrity.
