Radio is the technology which uses radio waves to carry information by modulating electromagnetic waves. When radio waves hit an electrical conductor, the oscillating items induce an alternating current in the conductor. Then, the information within the wave can be extracted and send back in the original form.
Radios need a transmitter to modulate the energy as well as an antenna to convert the electric current into radio waves and vice versa. The antenna can be used both for receiving and transmitting.
Radio systems have more than 100 years of development and each process is implemented by using different methodologies which relate do different communication purposes.
Each radio consists of different elements including the transmitter which is the source of the electrical energy and produces a current with a specific frequency of oscillation; the antenna, an electrical device which converts the electrical currents into radio waves and vice-versa; and the receiver which is an antenna which receives the wave.
