As a field of research, pathology relates to four components of diseases including the cause, the mechanism of development, the structural alteration of cells and the consequences related to these changes. The modern practice of pathology is divided into several subdisciplines which are: anatomical pathology, clinical pathology, molecular pathology and oral and maxillofacial pathology. Anatomical pathology is fourthly divided into dermatopathology, cytopathology, forensic pathology, neuropathology, histopathology, renal pathology, pulmonary pathology and surgical pathology. As well as this, clinical pathology includes hematopathology, radiation pathology and immunopathology.
