Graphic art is a category of fine art which includes different visual art forms produced on a flat surface. The term usually refers to drawing, engraving and printmaking processes, as well as calligraphy, photography, typography, computer graphics and bindery.

Engraving consists of incising a design into a flat and hard surface. This art form is one of the oldest methodology used in printmaking and mapmaking, as well as in the creation of illustrations for books and magazines.

Printmaking is the art of making artworks by printing on paper. The process has the purpose to create unique and original elements rather than multiple copies of the same item.

Calligraphy is a visual art which refers to writing. It is the design of lettering using tools such as brushes, pens or other writing instruments.

Photography is defined as the art to create permanent and durable images by recording light and other electromagnetic radiation. This art is used in different fields such as science, manufacturing, business, film and video production, hobby and mass communication.

Typography is the art of arranging a type to make a written language legible, readable and appealing. It focuses on typefaces, line lengths, point sizes, line spacing and letter spacing.

Computer graphic is the art of creating pictures and films by using computers. The discipline is usually related to computer science and includes topics such as user interface design, 3D modelling, sprite graphics, vector graphics and GPU design.

Bindery refers to the process of fastening paper sheets to create books. This technique is used also to add decorative elements to the books' cover.
