This discipline is applied in electromagnetism, classical mechanics and quantum mechanism.
Three are the theories which are related to this discipline: the theory of partial differential equations, the quantum theory and the relativity and quantum relativistic theories.
Firstly, the theory of partial differential equation was developed in the second half of the 18th century and was relevant until the 1930s. This theory was applied to hydrodynamics, continuum mechanics, elasticity theory, thermodynamics and aerodynamics.
Secondly, the quantum theory was developed at the same time of the fields of linear algebra and the spectral theory of operators. This theory focused on the interactions between matter and electromagnetic radiation.
Thirdly, the special and general theory played an important role in differential geometry and functional analysis.
