The term ‘indoor games’ refers to a variety of games or competitive physical activities which are carried out in a home or indoor facility.
Most indoor games include card games, board games and tabletop games.
Card games are usually played with a pack of 52 cards containing four different suits: diamonds, clubs, spades and hearts. Each card has different numbers, from 2 to 10, followed by pictures (Joker, Queen and King) and the ace. Depending on the games, the ace can be associated with the number 1, or have the highest value. The most common card games are whist and bridge. In both these games, the ace has the highest value, followed by the picture cards and then by the numbers. Card games started becoming popular in the 14th century in the Muslim world.
There are different typologies of board games which are played all around the world. Usually, these games require a minimum amount of skills on the part o the players. The most popular board games are 'monopoly' and 'backgammon' which are a mix of chance and skills. Indeed, even if luck is vital for these games, the players have to make decisions.
Tabletop games include various types of indoor activities such as billiards, pool, or snooker. In these games, players try to pot the ball by using a cue ball hit by a stick.
