Grammar is a branch of linguistics and consists of different rules which govern the composition of phrases, clauses and words in any natural language. The term grammar also refers to the study of these rules, including phonology, morphology and syntax.
Speakers of a language have a set of internalised rules which allow them to use a language correctly. Most of the grammatical rules are usually acquired through the observation of other speakers, especially during the childhood.
The syntax is another branch of linguistic and consists of a group of rules, principles and processes at the base of the sentences structure in a precise language. Also, it usually focuses on the word order. The main goal of people who study this discipline is to discover the syntactic rules which are common to all languages.
There are different theoretical approaches to syntax. Indeed, the discipline has been considered as part of biology, as well as an abstract system and a taxonomical device.
Finally, morphology is the study of words, how they are formed and their relationship with other words of the same language. As well as this, morphology analyses the structure of the words and their parts such as stems, prefixes, suffixes and root words. The discipline also considers the parts of speeches such as intonation and stress, as well as the ways the context can alter a word’s pronunciation and meaning.
