Fiction is defined as any story or setting that comes from the author’s imagination so as it is not based on history and real events. This genre usually includes written works such as novels, novellas, short stories and plays. However, fiction can be also related to comic books, manga, films, video games and TV programmes.

All the novels, novellas, short stories and plays which do not fit in a particular genre of fiction, are known as general fiction. Although these works do not have a specific theme that permits them to be classified, the story and the plot of these works is not less strong than other works.

In other words, general fictions are stories that lack strong romance, mystery, fantasy or other themes which would permit them to be classified.

In this Kortext category, you will be able to find a wide range of general fictions for children and teens. Therefore, these works are part of the children’s and young adult literature.

Children’ literature is defined as a group of written works which young people can read and that can have different formats: fiction, poetry or drama. Additionally, this type of literature has its own features; firstly, it uses a simple and optimistic language; secondly, children are the main characters of the plot; thirdly, there is always a tone of joy and innocence in every narration; finally, it uses repetitions to emphasize the most relevant part of the story.

Young adults literature are written works, published specifically for readers between 12 and 18 years old. This genre focuses specifically on the age and experiences of the main character and outlines problems which are usually related to teens.
