Ethics or moral philosophy is a branch of philosophy which recommends concepts of right and wrong attitude. The notion of ethics along with the term aesthetics concerns matters of value and form the branch of philosophy known as axiology.
Ethics focuses on the definition of the concepts of good and evil, as well as right and wrong, virtue and vice, and justice and crime. In addition, ethics is also related to areas such as moral psychology, descriptive ethics and value theory.
As well as this, ethics covers the issues on how to live a good life, outlines people rights and responsibilities, and describes individuals’ moral decisions.
Concepts of ethics have been outlined over the years by religions, philosophies and cultures.
Moral philosophy is usually categorised into three different areas: meta-ethics, normative ethics and applied ethics. Meta-ethics focuses on understanding the nature of ethical properties, attitudes statements and judgements. Normative ethics concentrates on the study of ethical actions and investigates all the questions that are generated when considering how to act. Applied ethics focuses on the analysis of particular moral issues in both private and public life.
The most important part of ethics is thinking about the other people interests. Therefore, when a person thinks ethically, he also thinks about other people. This aspect is not always positive as some groups can adopt ethics as a weapon against other individuals.
