Cycling, also known as biking and bicycling is the use of the bike for different purposes, including transport, sport, exercise or recreation. People who are involved in this activity are known as cyclists or bikers. In addition to two-wheeled bicycles, the discipline includes the riding of unicycles, tricycles, and quadracycles.

Bicycles have been firstly introduced in the 19th century and nowadays they are one of the principal means of transport in different parts of the world.

Contrary to motor vehicles, bicycles have numerous benefits, including physical exercises, easier parking and good manoeuvrability. As well as this, cycling reduces the air and noise pollution, as well as the traffic congestion.

Nevertheless, cycling has also its disadvantages as it requires the purchase or rent of bicycles and is vulnerable to weather conditions.

Nowadays, there are many schools and departments that organise educational programs to teach children how to handle a bicycle and recognise the rules of the roads. In this context, not only is important to know how to ride a bicycle but also how to handle it efficiently during the peak hours of traffic.

Do you want to know more about this activity? Take a look at this category.  You will find a wide range of digital books which will help you understand better the concept of cycling. As well as this, these ebooks will support your studies and exams.
