Christianity is an Abrahamic monotheistic religion which focuses on the life, teaching and miracles of Jesus of Nazareth. He is known by Christians as the Christ or “Messiah” and he is the central point of the Christian beliefs.

Christianity is the largest religion in the world with over 2.4 billion followers, known as Christians. Christians believe that Jesus is the son of God and the saviour of humanity, who came among humans as the Messiah. His aim was to live a sinless life as to become the perfect sacrifice to reconcile the humanity to Yahweh, the Jewish creator God.

Christianity has origins from Judaism and it firstly developed in the Roman province of Judea. Then, it spread to Syria, Europe, Anatolia, Mesopotamia, Transcaucasia, Egypt, Ethiopia and the Indian subcontinent.

By the 4th century, the religion started dominating all the other religions in the Greco-Roman society and started spreading through the Roman Empire, Britain and India.

Christianity is based on the traditional Christian Scripture, community creeds and non-canonised historical writings about the Christian Church Fathers. As a tradition, Christianity is more than a system of religious belief. It has generated a culture, a set of ideas and ways of life. The agent of Christianity is the church and all the people who create the group of believers.
