What is Kortext?

Kortext is a leading digital textbook platform. It offers you online and offline reading solutions for 24/7 access to your etextbooks on any device. Kortext has developed a set of tools that permit you to have a personalised learning and can help you study smarter, through the organisation and sharing of research and notes in a completely new way!

How can I access Kortext?

You can log in at app.kortext.com/login using either the username and password or access code you have been provided and follow the on screen instructions.

What devices can I use?

You can access Kortext using a PC, laptop, tablet or mobile phone.

Where do I get my username and password?

If your university is providing your etextbooks through Kortext, you should receive an email with your username and password from either Kortext or your university. If you have not received this then go to your lecturer or university support team who will contact Kortext.

If you have received an access code or you have purchased from a webstore, you should have received an email from Kortext with instructions on how to set-up your account. If not, please contact support@kortext.com

How do I reset my password?

If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it by going into the login screen. Simply enter your username and click on ‘Forgot your password?’. You will then receive an email with instructions on how to reset it.

If you want to change your password, you can reset it by accessing ‘My Account’ on your bookshelf toolbar. Select the ‘Change Password’ tab, which will give you further instructions.

What do I need to access my etextbooks?

For online access, you will need the internet (we recommend you use wifi), a compatible web browser and a Kortext account.

You can also read offline using the Kortext Apps. An internet connection is required.

How do I download my etextbooks?

You can download and read your etextbooks offline using The Kortext App. The Kortext App is available to download free of charge for the Android App (Samsung etc) from Google Play store, iOS App (iPad) from the App Store, and for the Windows App click here.

You will need to install the App onto your device before you download the content. You can download from the cloud, or if you log onto your Kortext account on the device, via the web browser.

How long does it take to download an etextbook?

When you download an etextbook from Kortext, the amount of time it takes to download will vary according to the file’s size and your internet connection speed. A broadband connection is highly recommended.

What is my bookshelf?

Once you have accessed Kortext you will see your bookshelf, where the etextbooks allocated to your account will be ready to use.

Can I print pages of the etextbook?

Yes, you can print pages of the etectbooks. However, the book is still governed by copyright so you will have print restrictions. These are clearly indicated when you click on the print tab. These restrictions are set by the publishers.

What internet browsers are supported?

Kortext supports the following browsers: IE 8.0+, Chrome 2+, Firefox 3+, Safari 2+ (Mac) and Safari 3+ (Windows).

How many devices can I use?

Up to 5 devices. These include laptops and desktops. Publishers set the limits of how many devices you can download to.

Can I use an Amazon Kindle to read my etextbooks?

As the Amazon Kindle uses proprietary software, unfortunately at this time you are unable to read your etextbooks on it. However, you can read your etextbooks on a Kindle Fire by accessing Kortext online through the web browser.

Can I share my etextbooks?

Your username and password is unique to you and this must not be shared with other people. However, you can share your notes from your etextbooks and collaborate with other students using our smart tools.

How long do I have access to my etextbooks?

If your etextbooks are purchased under the perpetuity model then you will own them for as long as you access Kortext or the downloaded version through your device. If you have purchased under the rental model, you will be able to access the etextbooks for the length of the rental period.

Is there a limit to how many etextbooks I can read offline on my device?

There are no limits on how many of your etextbooks can be downloaded and read offline.

I have the wrong etextbook or I’m missing a etextbook from my bookshelf, what do I do?

If you have an incorrect or missing title on your bookshelf, you should contact your university representative and advise them of this. They will contact Kortext to ensure you have the correct etextbook loaded onto your bookshelf.

I have a problem that is not listed here, what do I do?

Please contact our support team, simply click here. Remember to include as much information as possible about the issue. Indicate if the problem is online or offline and include information about which web browser you are using, the device and the version.
